SOCOTEC opens Dublin office as Irish operations expand

New capital base follows acquisition of Lloyds Datum Group and supports broader technical consultancy offering

SOCOTEC has opened a new office in Dublin as part of the continued expansion of its Irish operations, strengthening its presence in the State following the acquisition of infrastructure firm Lloyds Datum Group earlier this year.

The new Dublin location builds on SOCOTEC’s existing engineering facility in Letterkenny, which has been providing specialist fire engineering services to clients across Ireland and the UK. The company said the move reflects growing demand from its Irish client base and the need to deliver a wider range of technical consultancy services from a central location.

The Dublin office will primarily support engineering services, with a focus on structural and fire engineering. SOCOTEC indicated that its growth strategy in Ireland is targeted rather than large-scale, with the new office seen as a measured step aligned with specific strategic objectives.

Speaking on the expansion, Wayne Somanna, Associate Director for Fire Engineering, said the company is positioning itself to provide more holistic technical consultancy services, extending beyond engineering disciplines.

SOCOTEC’s Irish Fire Engineering team delivers fire safety engineering, access and use consultancy, ancillary certification, fire safety audits and fire risk assessments. Services span the full project lifecycle, from early design through to completion, including the preparation of fire safety strategies, fire safety certificates, disability access certificates and on-site BC(A)R inspections and certification.

The company has established a substantial client base in Ireland, working across major developments and institutions in multiple sectors. Over the past year, SOCOTEC has secured a range of technical service contracts in the Irish market, while also supporting its UK operations.

Matthew Marriott, CEO of SOCOTEC UK and Ireland, said the Dublin office represents the next logical step following the Lloyds Datum Group acquisition. He said the combination of engineering expertise with environmental services positions SOCOTEC to offer a comprehensive suite of technical consultancy solutions to clients operating in Ireland’s built environment.
